On September 20, 2019 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, classical music lovers will enjoy an unprecedented musical evening in Kansas City, at “Stanislav and Friends.” Stanislav Ioudenitch, a gold medalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will perform in Helzberg Hall along with other stars on piano, violin, and cello. All the players are connected with the International Center for Music (ICM), the highly successful music institute that Mr. Ioudenitch founded at Park University. This exciting presentation of world-class talent will quicken the heart of the American Midwest — Kansas City!
Another star on the September 20th program is Kenny Broberg. In June 2019, Mr. Broberg won the bronze medal in the prestigious XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition. He was the only American pianist to compete. Speaking of the competition, which takes place every four years, Park ICM Director, Dr. Roger Kugler, said, “Some people say it's the equivalent of an Olympics.” Mr. Broberg is also a winner of the silver medal of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and the list of his awards goes on and on.
This concert is a gala celebration of Park ICM, the only music school of its kind in the United States. The center trains top level classical musicians who compete and perform on the global stage. Mr. Ioudenitch, director of the Park ICM piano department, founded ICM with his dream to open a school like those that exist in Russia, where every student studies intensively with a single master. The number of ICM students is kept small - only 30 have the privilege to be a part of this unique school. The performance level of all applicants is high, and acceptance into the program is difficult to obtain.
For Mr. Ioudenitch and other leadership of Park ICM, the conservatory program has turned a dream into reality. Park University and Mr. Ioudenitch have built a world-class conservatory, the protégés of which become incredibly successful musicians. Among them is pianist Behzod Abduraimov, a favorite of the Kansas City public, who is touring top concert halls around the world. Just for fun, check out Mr. Abduraimov’s Instagram page and you will see how many United States and international followers he has! Mr. Abduraimov’s performance is a much anticipated highlight of "Stanislav and Friends."
Some of the friendship on stage for “Stanislav and Friends,” will be among Park ICM’s highly regarded faculty. The audience will enjoy a performance by the Park Trio, whose members include Mr. Ioudenitch on piano, Daniel Weiss, a silver medalist of the International Tchaikovsky Competition and head of the Park ICM cello department, and Lithuanian-Israeli violinist Ben Sayevich, who has concertized with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles worldwide and leads Park ICM’s violin department.
All are invited to the International Center for Music gala performance on September 20. It promises to be a grand celebration of classical music performed by stars of Kansas City, the USA and the world.
